Since August 2026 we have made things with 33 neighbors across Queens — in a castle, a museum garden, a historic parlor and on the waterfront.

Voelker orth museum (September 2026)
Twelve neighbors from the surrounding blocks, from young adults to elders, dyed white cotton in an indigo vat. Before dyeing, each person patterned their own cloth by hand — binding and stitching it with needle and thread, or clamping it between chopsticks — so that no two pieces came out alike. Led by Dani Song.
(August 2026)
A small gathering on Baekjung, the midsummer day in the Korean folk calendar when the departed are remembered. Four participants shared food and stories at the waterfront in memory of those no longer with us.
BHS Castle (August 2026)
A four-artist exhibition organized by Jiae Kim, with a two-week open studio: Jiae painted Flowers in a Vase in the gallery during public hours so visitors could watch minhwa being made, and Dani Song served green tea in the traditional manner beside her nine indigo panels. A free Korean/English minhwa workshop on August 12 brought five participants, from children to seniors, to paint traditional motifs on dyed hanji.
